Eleven days bring Cairo’s cultural layers into conversation with the coast and mountain landscapes of South Sinai. After the pyramids and Old Cairo, fly to the peninsula and settle into Dahab’s more intimate seafront rhythm. Carefully supervised reef time alternates with unhurried meals and a locally guided inland stay around Saint Catherine. A strenuous summit ascent is not assumed: the mountain experience is planned around the group’s abilities, current permissions and the knowledge of local guides. Return to Dahab before flying back to Cairo for a final overnight. The route protects time for weather changes and respectful visits to living religious places.

11 Day

Cairo and the river

Morning: Meet the team on arrival in Cairo and transfer to your hotel, allowing the first hours to be determined by your flight and the need to rest.

Afternoon: Take a short neighbourhood introduction if you arrive early enough, then review the route with your coordinator, including the domestic flights and peninsula transfers.

Evening: Have a relaxed Egyptian dinner and turn in early before the following day’s visit to Giza, with no fixed evening attraction to race towards.

Travel notes: Sleep in Cairo. The introductory walk is optional and easily shortened after a long journey, while all essential visits begin on the next full day.

The pyramids in context

Morning: Start early at Giza with your Egyptologist and explore the plateau as a connected royal landscape, with time to consider the Sphinx and the scale of the pyramid complexes.

Afternoon: Return for lunch and a break, then choose a confirmed museum visit or a quiet afternoon depending on your interests and the heat.

Evening: Dine near the hotel and enjoy a free evening, taking the opportunity to discuss the places of worship and local customs you will encounter later.

Travel notes: Sleep in Cairo. Any interior pyramid tickets are separate and subject to availability; the route never relies on special access or unconfirmed opening arrangements.

Old Cairo and religious layers

Morning: Visit part of Old Cairo with your guide, considering the relationships between religious communities and observing the dress and photography etiquette of the active sites visited.

Afternoon: Share lunch and, if opening arrangements permit, explore a collection that adds context to the city’s later history before returning to the hotel.

Evening: Pack for Sinai and enjoy dinner in Cairo, keeping the evening modest so tomorrow’s airport transfer can be handled comfortably.

Travel notes: Sleep in Cairo. Religious services and access requirements may change the exact stops, and the guide selects an appropriate sequence without interrupting worship.

Flight to Sinai and the road to Dahab

Morning: Transfer to the airport for the confirmed flight to Sharm el-Sheikh, where your peninsula driver meets you for the road journey to Dahab.

Afternoon: Arrive for lunch and hotel check-in, then take a gentle walk along the waterfront to understand the town’s layout and the mountain backdrop.

Evening: Choose a relaxed seafront dinner and meet or speak with the local activity team about suitable reef and inland options for the coming days.

Travel notes: Sleep in Dahab. Flight time, road checks and hotel access govern the day; sea activity is reserved for a full morning after you have settled in.

Morning: Meet the qualified marine team for a briefing and a supervised water session chosen for your experience and the day’s wind, entry conditions and visibility.

Afternoon: Have lunch on shore and rest during the brighter hours. A short follow-up session is considered only if the operator confirms appropriate conditions for the group.

Evening: Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner along the seafront, with time to watch the coastline change as the mountains fall into evening shadow.

Travel notes: Sleep in Dahab. The programme does not assume technical diving, a specific site or wildlife sightings; equipment and supervision are confirmed before booking.

Coast paths and local hospitality

Morning: Take a locally guided coastal walk or a permitted short excursion, choosing an accessible route with shade and rest stops rather than an ambitious trek in the heat.

Afternoon: Share a pre-arranged lunch or tea with local hosts, giving the conversation and food proper time and respecting preferences about photography and household access.

Evening: Spend the evening freely in Dahab, with restaurant suggestions available and no obligation to join an organised group activity.

Travel notes: Sleep in Dahab. Hosting and any off-road access are arranged fairly and confirmed locally; weather or permissions can shift the day to an easier town-based programme.

Into the Saint Catherine landscape

Morning: Leave Dahab with your driver for the confirmed road route into the mountains, allowing time for checkpoints and breaks as the coastal landscape becomes more rugged.

Afternoon: Reach the pre-arranged accommodation and meet a local mountain guide. Take a gentle orientation walk if conditions permit, with lunch and time to adjust to the different setting.

Evening: Have an early dinner and discuss tomorrow’s monastery-area visit or guided walk, choosing a realistic route and preparing clothing for cooler mountain conditions.

Travel notes: Sleep near Saint Catherine. Permissions, religious-site schedules and accommodation are confirmed before departure; this day does not promise a summit ascent.

Monastery heritage and mountain knowledge

Morning: Visit the monastery area when access is confirmed, observing its active religious role and the instructions governing entry, clothing and photography.

Afternoon: After a locally arranged lunch, walk with your mountain guide on a route suited to the group and the conditions, learning how communities understand this landscape.

Evening: Return to your accommodation for dinner and a quiet evening, leaving time to reflect on the very different rhythms of the mountains and the coast.

Travel notes: Sleep near Saint Catherine. Religious closures or local restrictions may require an alternative guided landscape day, agreed in advance; demanding mountain routes are optional separate arrangements.

Return to the shore

Morning: Enjoy breakfast and a short final mountain outlook before the road transfer back to Dahab, keeping the route to approved roads and the driver’s planned stops.

Afternoon: Arrive for lunch and settle back into the coastal hotel. Leave the afternoon free for the beach, a café or rest after the inland stay.

Evening: Have a final Dahab dinner, with a table and transport arranged if requested, then prepare for tomorrow’s return to Cairo.

Travel notes: Sleep in Dahab. The day prioritises the transfer and rest, with no fixed sea activity that could be compromised by road conditions or a later arrival.

Back to Cairo

Morning: Transfer to Sharm el-Sheikh airport for the confirmed flight to Cairo, leaving enough margin for road checks and airport procedures.

Afternoon: Meet your Cairo driver, check into the hotel and have lunch or a late snack. If arrival is early, enjoy a short local walk rather than a distant excursion.

Evening: Choose a final dinner in the capital and review the international departure details with the coordinator, keeping the last overnight uncomplicated.

Travel notes: Sleep in Cairo. A separate Cairo night provides a practical margin before onward travel; flight connections and any same-ticket arrangements must be confirmed in the proposal.

A calm departure

Morning: Have breakfast and use any remaining time to pack or take a brief walk close to the hotel, according to the confirmed flight schedule.

Afternoon: Collect luggage and transfer to Cairo airport, with lunch or a packed meal fitted around the check-in time rather than a promised final attraction.

Evening: Continue onward from Cairo, with the local team completing the handover at the agreed airport drop-off point.

Travel notes: The programme ends at Cairo airport. An early departure uses a direct transfer, while a late flight allows an unhurried hotel morning and an optional agreed extension.
